Court arraigns woman over Alleged Assault

An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo on Monday, March 12, 2018, has arraigned a woman, Abosede Abigael, faced with a count charge of alleged assault.

 

The accused person and other at large was said to have assaulted one Yisa Emmanuel on March 6, 2018 at around 11:30 at Oremeji Street, Ogooluwa, Osogbo, by giving him fist blows all over his body and teeth bite that left him with a deep cut on his body thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 355 of Criminal code Cap 34, Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003. However,  the accused pleaded not guilty.

 

The Prosecutor, Inspector Oladoye Joshua informed the court that there is one still at large, who happens to be the son of the accused and that efforts are been made to arrest the second accused person. Meanwhile, the Defense Counsel, Mr. Olayinka Ojo applied for bail in the most liberal terms.

 

The Magistrate, Mrs. O. A Oloyade granted the accused person bail in terms of fifty thousand naira with two sureties, in which one of them must be a civil servant of at least level six, swear an affidavit to which three clear passports, letter of last promotion, tax clearance, valid means of identification must be attached. The Magistrate further stated that the address of the sureties be verified by the Prosecutor who must also assemble his witnesses for the next hearing. She also stated that if the conditions are not met, the accused person would be remanded to prison.

The case was adjourned until March 22, 2018.
