Members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) State of Osun and the Presidential Petroleum Task Force have jointly agreed to work together harmoniously with a view to ending fuel scarcity and shortage and shortage which led to the sale of the product at higher prices in some filling stations.
This came to the fore after a three-hour meeting between IPMAN and PPTF which held at the conference room of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Abere.
The meeting had in attendance members of the Task force led by its chairman, Hon. Kunle Ayantoye as well as executives and members of Osun IPMAN led by its Chairman Alhaji Jire Aweda, General Secretary of IPMAN Ibadan Depot Mrs. Olufunke Salawu, Zonal Chief Whip Mr. Lakin Ojekunle and many more.
In his remarks, chairman of PPTF Hon. Kunle Ayantoye explained the reason for the establishment of the committee by the federal government which include monitoring of the product for even distribution, ensuring regular supply of the product to Osun, facilitating the support of other stakeholders like DPR, PPMC, PTD to make sure that Osun is not cheated in the distribution and supply of the product.
Mr. Ayantoye said the committee will not be cowed from carrying out its duties and enforcing its order on any petroleum seller who fails to abide by the rules and regulations governing the sale of the product in Osun.
Hon. Ayantoye who admitted that few trucks are dispatched to the state on daily basis further enjoined all independent marketers to ensure that members of the public are not short-changed through the sale of fuel above the official price, litre reduction, hoarding, diversion among others.
The chairman further promised to assist IPMAN in addressing the challenges encountered in lifting the product from the depots which include bridging, incomplete litres, payment for some overhead cost and many more.
Responding, chairman of IPMAN Alhaji Jire Aweda lauded efforts of the state government in addressing some challenges faced by the association when the chips were down.
He said the sale of premium motor spirit above the official price is as a result of higher price and other charges the product is lifted at independent depots, calling on the task force to find means of ameliorating the stress.
At the end of the meeting, IPMAN promised to hold a meeting with all their members to solve the problem of hoarding, diversion and litre reduction.
