Booli: Also called “Bole” is roasted plantain and tops the chart of street food here in Osogbo. Personally, Osogbo has made me love it. It is definitely a to go street food that is found in almost every nook and cranny. It is very affordable and it’s combination with roasted groundnut, thus, “Boli and Epa” is definitely a mouth watering treat.

 

Beske: Is made from soya beans and also called “Wara Soya” or “Tofu”. It is an healthy snack and is sold stewed, garnished or ordinarily. It is known to be an high source of protein and helps lower cholesterol in the system.

 

Akara: Is a popular street food common to Nigeria as a whole. It is made from beans mixed with pepper, onions and seasonings. It is then fried with either palm oil or groundnut oil. It is extremely tasty and can be eaten with bread or pap.

 

Fried Yam/Potato with Fried Stew: “Dundun and Ata dindin” as it is called is also a common street food that is extremely tasty. It is sometimes served with fried potatoes “Odukun”. It is an healthy food as the stew is sometimes garnished with fish,meat, ponmo, liver,egg, etc. It is also delicious when served with fried plantain” Dodo”.

 

Roasted Corn: Is a seasonal food that also forms part of the popular street foods. It is known not to be only tasty but also nutritious has it contains carboyhdrate, folic acid and protein. It is also said to help with gall bladder problems, cough, etc.

 

Plantain Chips: Also known as “Ikpekere” is a crunchy street food made from unripe plantain,  fried and packed for sale. It is also known to contain Vitamin A which helps with vision and Vitamin C which helps in protecting tissues from damage.

 

Groundnut or Cashewnut: Groundnut is also a popular Nigerian street food. It is either boiled with salt or roasted. Either ways, they taste very good.  Cashew nut on the other hand is gotten the the cashew fruit. It undergoes drying, roasting and then cracking to get the nuts. It is also a tasty and healthy street food.
