Volunteers of the Peace Corps of Nigeria in Osun State on Wednesday stormed major streets of Osogbo, capital of Osun state to celebrate the passage of the bill setting up the corps by the Senate.
The volunteers who carried placards with various inscription were singing and dancing.
The Commandant of PCN in the state, Mr. Paul Ayinde lauded the National Assembly for the passage of the bill.
He commended the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara and the entire members of the National Assembly for passing the bill.
Ayinde said the volunteers came out to appreciate the Senate and the House of Representatives for the passage of the bill and promised to continue to make positive impact in ensuring a better society and peaceful Nigeria.
He said that PCN remained committed to the mandate of maintaining discipline in public schools in the state, while also assuring that members of the corps would redouble their efforts.
He said further: “The passage of our bill is a thing of joy and that is why all of us are out this morning to celebrate. We are also out to thank all those, who God used to make this possible. We are thanking the President, of the Senate, the Speaker of House of Representatives and the entire federal lawmakers as well as all Nigerians for their support.
“Despite that we are not being paid, we were doing the job. Now, we will work harder than before because to whom much is given, much is expected.”
