The Pro-Chancellor of Adeleke University Ede, Osun State, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke has revealed that 82 percent of the students of the institution are on scholarship.
Adeleke who equally admonished Nigerians to fund the education of the less privileged students made this plea while addressing the 2017 graduands at the 3rd convocation ceremony held on Sunday.
He stressed that many minds were wasting outside the classroom simply because they lacked someone to pay for their fees at school.
He said, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste and that is why I have been looking for ways to give back to the society. One of the main aim and what this school hinge on is to give hope to hopeless people in the society”.
“We live in a poor country and government will only do little, so in a small way that God has given as many Nigerians money I urge them to use it to assist others.
“82percent of the students in this school are on scholarship and I know that what they have enjoyed here they will replicate same to the society.”
However, the institution produced 18 first class, 124 second class upper, 78 second class lower and 14 third class students for the 3rd convocation.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Samuel Ekundayo in his address, said the institution had made a landmark achievement in converting waste to wealth.
“Formulation of bio-insecticide, bio-preservation and dish washing liquid from metabolites of cyanide degrading bacteria from fermented cassava waste water and soil site of cassava waste water”.
