NNL lifts suspension on Osun United duo

The secretariat of the Nigeria National League (NNL) have lifted a suspension clamped on two Osun United players (Chigozie Obasi MON and Victor Okeji) after appearing and proved their innocence before the compliance unit of the NNL.

In a statement released by the Media Officer to the team, Tunde Shamsudeen. The second tier league suspended its ban on the players but upheld its three match closed doors decision against the Omoluabi Giants.

According to a statement from the NNL, the duo are now free to play for the club from this weekend following the provisional clearance given to them against the punishment.

“Chigozie Obasi and Victor Okeji, have been given provisional clearance to play the remaining matches. They are however on probation till the end of the season. This means that any act of indiscipline involving the players shall attract severe punitive measure.”

Obasi, former junior international and Okeji, were initially suspended for one year for assaulting match officials in their Week 19 match against Akwa Starlets at the Oshogbo Township Stadium.

Osun United will be up against Papilo Football Club on Saturday at the Dam Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
