Osun State citizens on Wednesday evening carpeted the Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, after his request for sons and daughters of Osun to fast and pray for the upcoming Osun West Senatorial District By-Election.
Preparations for the upcoming Saturday Osun West Senatorial District By-Election are in full swing with daily rallies of the two main political parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Peoples Democratic Party stormed Apomu, the headquarters of Isokan Local Government, with big names of the party to campaign for its candidate, Otunba Ademola Adeleke, a brother to the Late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke. Those on the entourage of Ademola Adeleke included the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Alimodu Sheriff, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Hon Adejare Bello, among others.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), on the other hand held its mega rally in Ede, the hometown of the PDP Candidate, the campaign train included the Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Otunba Titi Laoye-Tomori, Rt Hon Najeem Salaam and other party bigwigs.
The Governor had in a series of tweet monitored on his verified official twitter handle @raufaregbesola tweeted;
“I urge every son and daughter in the state of Osun to observe a day of fasting and prayer tomorrow”.
“I ask that we take time to pray for our beloved country Nigeria in this most trying of times”.
“That we also say a word of prayer for the our dear state before,during and after the Osun West senatorial district by-election this Saturday”.
“Let us all seek God’s mercy for restoration and to ward off evil forces and darkness”.
In a series of sharp and opposing replies monitored on twitter, citizens replied him in the negative
