The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has completed the training of NYSC corp members posted to Osun State for the purpose of a smooth, free and fair Osun West Senatorial District By-Election slated for this Saturday, July 8th.
The build up to this particular election has been tense considering the allegations and counter allegations between the two main political parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The State Chairman of the PDP, Hon Soji Adagunodo had said: “There are plans by the APC to ensure that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) allocate non-functioning card readers to area considered as strongholds of the PDP.
But the Osun State APC Director of Publicity and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi said PDP’s allegation was baseless and untrue.
“APC will win the election without any form of rigging. The party does not have any plan to rig the election.” he said.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has trained members of the 2016 batch B stream 1 and 2 on 30th June to 2nd July on the modus operandi and modalities for this election, they were also trained on the use of all electoral equipments and instruments.
In a little chat with the trained corp members, they exhumed confidence about the process and promised to ensure fairness and credibility during the election
