A 22-year-old bricklayer, Ismaila Fatai, was yesterday remanded in prison by a magistrate’s court in Osogbo, Osun State for allegedly killing his uncle, Zakariyau Safiriyu, at a family meeting in Ede.
The police prosecutor, Olu Abodunrin, told the court that Fatai hit his uncle on the head with a stick on February 3, 2017, leading to his death.
He added that the offence was punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002. Fatai had no legal representative and his plea was not taken. Magistrate Olusola Aluko ordered that he be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till April 27, 2017.
