Aregbesola, Awaiting Prisoner – PDP Chairman

By Oluwabukunmi Akande
For failing to appoint commissioners two years into his second term in office as the Governor of Osun State while reportedly awarding contracts worth billions of Naira singlehandedly,Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, risks being jailed at the end of his tenure.
The Controversy findings revealed that governors’ approving limit is not more than N50 million (fifty million naira) on any contract.
To this effect, former Commissioner for Works in the administration of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and now a factional leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Dr Bayo Faforiji,  in an exclusive interview with The Controversy  spelt the implications of Aregbesola acting the role of state administrator which could be laced with the  breach of financial regulation guiding the award of contracts by state governors.
Specifically Faforiji who described the governor as an “awaiting prisoner “,asserted that  Aregbesola would run into troubled  waters after leaving office for executing billions of naira projects without having a cabinet in place.
“Where did he get the power to award contracts of billions of Naira whereas his approving limit is N50 million” he asked.
The former Atakumosa East Local Government Chairman insisted that there was no way Aregbesola would not be made to answer questions for running the state like a sole administrator.
“Aregbesola will be called to question at the end for running the state alone. Unless there is a law that protects him hereafter, I can assure you that he is an awaiting prisoner already”
Faforiji who predicted that the APC would lose at the coming polls in the state in 2018, said his belief was predicated on the manner the governor had ran the state aground.
“Osun and its people are now pauperized. The mode of Aregbesola is wrong and faulty. He is not managing the state well. He has mismanaged his tenure in Osun State. I can assure you that nobody will thank Aregbesola when he leaves”
He then implored the people while enduring the current travails, to be law abiding and not to lose hope.
