An Osogbo Magistrate court has arraigned a 36-year-old-man identified as Adelowo Adekunle for allegedly stealing a widow’s tipper lorry.
The prosecutor, Mr. Adegoke Taiwo told the court that “On 23rd day of October, 2016 Adelowo did steal a Mercedes 8.3 model tipper lorry with Registration no: XC 962 GNN (Osun) value N1.3 million property of one Olanike Oladepo”
“The accused person committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 laws of Osun State Nigeria, 2002”.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge put against him by his prosecutor.
While applying for the bail of the accused person, the defense counsel, Mr. Okobi prayed the court to grant bail to his client on the most liberal term.
He said ” I humbly apply for the bail of the accused person in the most liberal team, the accused has a reliable sureties and I rely on section 118 subsection 2 if the criminal proceeding laws of Osun-State which gives your lordship to ability to grant bail”.
The magistrate, Mr Olushola Aluko granted the bail to the accused person in the sum of N250,000 with two surties in likesum as the case was adjorn to 3rd of March 2017 for consolidation of charge with the previous charge number MOS/39C/2017.
Meanwhile, the court has earlier arraigned the receiver of the stolen tipper lorry known as Adenle Owolabi age 52yrs on 20th of January 2017
It was learnt that Adelowo collected the document of the tipper from the widow’s husband before his demise.
It was also gathered that after the death of the husband Adelowo took the tipper to place where he sold it to Adenle Owolabi.
Another source said the widow persistence in claiming the property of her husband made her to report the matter to the police station where several investigation reveal the receiver of the stolen property.
