Late Ifedolapo: Lasun, Olasunkanmi, Bewaji others mourn

Mixed reactions have continued to trail the death of Late Ifedolapo Oladepo, an Osogbo born corp member who died in NYSC Kano orientation camp where she was posted to serve her fatherland.

Her death is still a hot topic on major social media platforms with Nigerians calling for the total scrap of the NYSC scheme. Most commentators also lament the negligence of the Kano NYSC officials, they believe her death was avoidable.

The response of the Kano NYSC suggesting that late Ifedolapo brought illness from home has also angered many Nigerians who believe it is cover-up act by the NYSC.

A management staff of NYSC in Kano, who craved anonymity, told The Guardian that Oladepo was discovered with illness when she was presented before the camp clinic.

The source equally denied the rumour that she died at the orientation camp, saying: “The corps member did not carry any disease from camp and for the purpose of emphasis, she did not die on camp.”

“We tried all possible best to save her life, but we finally lost her. Our doctors on camp did their best before taking her to the hospital. It is unfortunate she did not survive it,” the source said.

Many Nigerians have condoled with the family and pray for the Almighty to grant her eternal rest.

Some of the condolences include;

“I commiserate with the family of Late Ifedolapo Oladepo over the death of their daughter, May the Almighty God grant them the fortitude to bear the avoidable loss. I equally call on the leadership of the NYSC to thoroughly and speedily investigate her death and make public their findings to avoid future occurrence”.
Akinlabi Olasunkanmi, Former Senator and Minister of Youth Development

“It is unfortunate that such a brilliant and promising young lady and a young boy who had struggled very hard to attain such enviable goal in life would just die at the prime of their age. On behalf of the House, Deputy Speaker uses this medium to commiserate with the family of the deceased and pray that God in His infinite mercy would give the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”.
Lasun Yussuff, Deputy Speaker House of Representatives.

“My condolences to the family of Late Ifedolapo Oladepo. I also call on the NYSC authorities to act fast and unravel the mystery behind her death”.
Rafiu Adejare Bello, Former Speaker Osun State House of Assembly.

“I want to assure the family that our parliament would certainly pick a bone with the NYSC on the matter until it is resolved in favour of justice for the deceased and her family”
Najeem Salam, Speaker Osun State House of Assembly.

“I identify with the Oladepos in this trying time and pray that the Almighty God console and uphold them. We owe it a duty to the Late Oladepo to put pressure on the NYSC leadership and ensure a transparent investigation into the cause of her death”
Babajide Bewaji, National President LAUTECH Alumni

“The sudden demise of the brilliant Youth Corper is a very sad loss to the nation, Osun state and her family in particular. It is very unfortunate that Nigeria has lost such a rare gift and a slice of her future so untimely. Our heart goes out to the immediate family and the Ila Orangun community.  May God grant them the fortitude to bear this monumental loss. Ifedolapo, rest in perfect peace”.
Bayo Faforiji, State PDP Leader
