A 28-year-old woman, Adebare Monsurat, was on Monday arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly setting on fire an office complex.
Monsurat is facing a count charge of setting on fire an office complex.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Olayiwola Rasaki, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 25, at Ototiki area, Osogbo.
Rasaki said Monsurat set on fire an office complex belonging to one Agbaje Segun.
He said the accused felt threatened when the complainant asked her of money she is owing him.
Rasaki said Monsurat was provoked and decided to take laws into her hands.
The Prosecutor said the accused destroyed some office properties worth about N518,000.
He said the offence contravened Section 451(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the one count charge.
Counsel to the accused, Mrs Bose Adeyinka, prayed the Magistrate to grant her client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubukola Olowolagba, granted the accused bail in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in like sum.
Olowolagba said the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments and two passport size photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned to Dec. 19 for mention.
