‘Tinubu’s contribution to democracy weighty’

The Chairman of Board of Management of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) Mr. Kola Akanji, has said that the contribution of the national leader of All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu to the nation’s democracy was very weighty and must be acknowledged.

Addressing a press conference on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of OSBC radio and television stations in Osogbo, capital of Osun State, Akanji told pressmen that Tinubu would be honoured as the icon of democracy.

Akanji explained that the corporation has reasons to mark the 25th anniversary and that the celebration would be used to take stock and double its efforts in providing quality media content to the people of the state and beyond.

He added that the honour for Tinubu was not because of the current travail in his party and not connected with #ISTANDWITHASIWAJUBOLATINUBU campaign but a genuine way of acknowledging the contribution of the former Lagos governor to
democratic governance in the country.

He noted that OSBC radio and TV stations have been very fair to the opposition political parties in the state in terms of coverage and reportage of their activities despite the fact that they are owed and funded by the state government.

Akanji also told journalists that other Nigerians to be honoured along with Tinubu include Prince Bisi Olatilo for his pioneering efforts in independent television production in the country and Dr. Siji Olamiju for his contribution to humanity in the health sector.

Others are Bashorun Rotimi Obeisun, a philanthropist, Mrs Yinka Obaleye, an industrialist, Alhaji Tajudeen Ogundoyin, economist, Alhaji Usman Yashin, a transporter among others.
