Police arrest notorious armed robber in Osun

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Fimihan Adeoye, on Saturday confirmed the arrest of a notorious armed robber, Akinsola Wale, in the state.

According to the police commissioner, Akinsola was arrest on Friday evening at New World Hotel in Ipetumodu town where the suspect was drinking beer.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Folasade Odoro, told journalists that Akinsola who is an ex-convict was popular called ‘Bishop’, adding that the collective efforts of policemen and local vigilante in the community led to the arrest of the suspect.

The police chief said Akinsola had earlier escaped arrest at the scene of a robbery recently where one of his gang members Azeez Oyeyemi was arrested with 2 locally made pistols.

He vowed that the suspects would be prosecuted in court after necessary investigation by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

He assured residents that other members of the gang and all the armed robbers terrorising the state would be apprehended and brought to book soon.
