Buhari approves ecological fund projects in 11 states

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved ecological fund intervention projects for the fourth quarter of 2016 in 11 states of the federation.

The beneficiaries include: erosion and flood control project for rice fields in Suru, Bagudu and Shanga Local Government Areas, all in Kebbi State; remediation of sludge at Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company (Phase II), in Kaduna State; flood and erosion control works in Abeokuta township, Ogun State; and channelisation and de-silting of Okoko and Ogbagba Rivers in Osogbo township in Osun State.

“The execution of these projects will address the challenges of gully and soil erosion, incessant flooding and air pollution that has ravaged the impacted communities and caused loss of lives in certain instances.
