State governments laud TUNS Farms

TUNS Farms Nigeria Limited, leading food Production Company specializing in the production of world class safe and quality broiler meat and other poultry derivatives has been commended for the success of the Osun Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme now known as O-MEALS. The commendation was made by Osun State Program Officer and delegates from Niger State who came to understudy the success of the Program in Osun State and TUNS Farms Nigeria Limited who has been a major stakeholder in contributing to the success story of the program.

Speaking during the event, Alhaji Aliyu Takuma, Special Adviser Zone A Affairs, Niger State said that the Osun Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme(O-MEALS) formerly known as Home Grown School Feeding Program (HGSFP) brings the much needed change in youth/child empowerment. “We thought that the program is just the feeding of school children but today, we have been exposed to the reality that the Home Grown School Feeding Program is a right step towards the change needed in youth empowerment which Osun State has been able to identify”.

AlhajiAliyufurther stated that if a laudable programme of this magnitude is implemented across the country, it will transform the poultry industry in Nigeria and will indeed enable the industry to fully achieve its potential as a major source of revenue and employment generation for the country”.

Receiving them at their corporate headquarters, Mr. Taofeek Badmus the Assistant General Manager Admin, Research and Development expressed gratitude and applauded the Osun state Governor, Rauf Aregbesola for implementing such a laudable program and called on other state governors to adopt and emulate the program nationwide as good nutrition is necessary for the development of cognitive skills which will improve the academic performance of the pupil, while noting that TUNS Farm will continue in its contribution to make the program a sustained success and is ready to assist other states interested.

In her remarks Mrs. Ayoola Olubunmi the State Program Officer for the school feeding program described the working relationship with ‎TUNS Farms as pleasant and applauded the positive impact the program has on the state particularly, increasing the enrollment of student, job creation and empowerment of women. She commended TUNS Farm for its contribution to the scheme. “The program, O-MEALS was conceived with the major aim of feeding school children, however, it has helped increase school enrolment by a minimum of 25% since its commencement while also creating new jobs for the teeming youths in the state and boosting the local economy”, she stated.
