A 24 years old Taofeek Waliu, has been discharged by the Osogbo magistrate court on Tuesday following signs of his mental imbalance, occasioned by the 10 months he spent in the Ilesha prison.

Taofeek, who was arraigned on 6th of November, 2015, pleaded not guilty on his two count charges of allegedly conspiring with one Sunday Isiaka to steal electrical cables, copper wire and aluminium conductor valued at 38,325 naira on the 3rd November, which belong to Ibadan Electricity Distribution company.

It was gathered that Taofeek had been in Ilesha prison for almost ten month because of his inability to meet the bail condition he was given.

It was observed by our correspondent that after the magistrate, Mr Elijah Aluko, ordered the court clerk to read Taofeek’s charge sheet to ascertain if he would understand and for him make his plea again, Taofeek subsequently gesticulated that the charge sheet read was inaudible for a while before pleading guilty of the offences levelled against him in Yoruba language.

After the his plea, the magistrate discharged him on grounds that he he is mentally impaired and had spent 10 months in confinement.
