Woman Docked Over Impersonation In Osun

The bid to survive the prevailing economic downturn even if by dubious means has landed 27-year-old  Atinuke Olawoyin in court in Osun State.

Atinuke who was brought before an Osun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ile-Ife over alleged impersonation and forgery however pleaded not guilty to charges preferred against her.

The prosecutor, Sgt Sunday Osanyintuyi, alleged that the accused person under the pretext of being a staff of Olofin Microfinance Bank, Moore, Ile-Ife collected money on behalf of the bank from unsuspecting customers of the bank.

According to the prosecutor, Atinuke allegedly used the bank’s name and its card to dupe people by collecting daily contribution from her victims.

Osanyintolu told the court that the accused person committed the offence on Sept 16, 2016 around 11:30 am at Oja Tuntun, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The prosecutor stated that the offence was contrary to and punishable under section 249 (d), 467 and 484 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun State , 2003.

He added that the accused forged the passbook and other documents of Olofin Micro Finance Bank Moore, Ile-Ife in order to promote her business.

According to him, the accused also presented herself in a way to cause the breach of public peace by presenting herself as a staff of Olofin Micro Finance Bank, Moore, Ile-Ife.

The defence counsel, Mr Martins Awe, pleaded for the bail of the accused in most liberal term and pledged that the accused would not only jump bail but present reliable sureties.

Magistrate Iyabo Salami granted the bail of the accused in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum among other bail conditions as she adjourned the case to Oct 18, for hearing.
